Summer time has arrived in California and everybody is starting to take off those sweatshirts and show some skin. After a short winter, everybody is ready to hit the beach or enjoy a nice day in the sunshine. Whether you like to take a walk in the park, play softball or have a barbeque Sacramento offers something for every fun loving resident.
However, if you are looking for something to do after the Sun goes down, look no further than Auburn California. Nestled nicely into the foothills, Auburn has all of the small town charm that you are looking for and a great history. Whether you go to Auburn for the food, the charm or the scenery you will not be disappointed.
One of our favorite parts of each summer is taking a look at the incredible classic cars which line Main Street the second Friday of each month. The show starts around 5 P.M. and lets the good times roll until about 9 P.M. Main Street in Auburn offers something for everybody. You can have great pizza on one end and enjoy authentic Mexican food on the other and everything in between; adding classic cars to this mix can only make your experience that much more exciting. The show mainly consists of vehicles from the 50’s and 60’s however all are welcome if they have something worth showing. From mint condition 50’s Cadillac’s to 800+ Horse Power drag Chevy’s there is truly a car for everybody.
One of the best parts about Auburn is the climate on a summer night. While the Sacramento valley floor may be 80 degrees at 6 o’clock, due to the elevation, Auburn can be up to 20 degrees cooler; making it quite a nice place to walk around in the evenings without getting heat exhaustion.
One of our favorite restaurants in Auburn is The Club Car. This place has great eats and is located perfectly on the main drag so that you can actually look at the cars while you eat. There are also great bars lining each side of the street so that you can stop in for a drink. Definitely check out the Auburn car show when you are looking for a fun Friday.
